Golf at Vilamoura

The Apartment is in easy reach of the six main Vilamoura golf courses. In fact, the apartment overlooks the fourth tee and wooded fairway of the Millennium Course (18 hole, 6,143 metres, par 72).

Vilamoura Old Course is the classic (6,254m, par 73) and is somewhat hillier than the others. The Clubhouse, only five minutes away by car, is where you should go to get information on bookings and discounts for all the courses.

The shorter Laguna courses comprising three nine-hole loops (all c. 3,000m, par 36) are also within easy reach of the apartment, and are well sign-posted.

The Victoria course was the longest in Europe when it opened in 2004. This is 6,411m, par 72, and takes only a few minutes from your base to the clubhouse. To help all levels of players, this interesting course has a minimum of five tees for each hole.

Small greens are a feature of the Pinhal course (6,300m, par 72). This calls for some precision play on the green approaches.

Vila Sol course hosted the Portuguese Open in 1992 and 1993. The lakes and bunkers are a feature of this 6,242m, par 72 challenge.

Of special interest to both experienced golfers and beginners is the SuperGolf School, and The Academy Golfers Club. This comprises a fully-equipped covered golf studio, with play-back video equipment, run by a full-time PGA qualified professional and his team. On the same site are a 3-hole practice course, and several putting greens. A multiple driving range, with greens, bunkers, and distance boards (floodlit for the evenings) completes the excellent golf facility. Clubs and other equipment are all available, so there is no need to take anything with you. This is ideal for all levels of golfers. The clubhouse (open to all) has an excellent café/restaurant, for relaxation before and after the lessons and practice. This Academy is located at the first roundabout after leaving the N125 on the way to the apartment. As can be imagined, it is only a couple of minutes away.
